How to Spice up Your Marriage – 6 Proven Tips
- By: Jane
If your marriage is on the rocks and you’re looking for tips on how to spice up your marriage, you’ve come to the right place.
Marriage is a sacred bond between two people in love. It is the ultimate sign of commitment, as you are telling your partner that you wish to spend the rest of your life with them.
Now, we understand that not every marriage has a happy ending, and we understand that couples can, and do, fall out of love with one another.
The problem is that social media and Hollywood has people thinking that every marriage should be perfect, like something out of a Fairy Tale, unfortunately in the real world, that’s not always the case. With full-time jobs, children, social lives, everyday chores, and the stresses of modern living, sometimes the cracks can begin to show in a relationship.
If your marriage has lost that spark and you want to inject some passion back into it, here’s a look at several tips on how to spice up your marriage.
- Compliment your partner
When couples first start dating, chances are they’ll be all over each other and will be showering each other with compliments, talking about how amazing they look and how great they make them feel. After years, or decades even, of marriage together, this is not always the case.
Another way of spicing up your marriage and getting some of that fire back into it is to shower your partner with compliments. Tell them how great they look, praise them for the food that they’ve prepared or the cleaning that they’ve done, and tell them how proud you are of them and how great they make you feel.
Complimenting your partner is not only a great way of making them feel better about themselves, it will also endear them to you, and you to them, and make you feel good in the process.
- Take care of the jobs they hate
It doesn’t matter what it is, if you know for a fact that your partner hates doing a specific job around the house, why not make life easier for them by taking care of it for them?
It might be a seemingly small job such as taking out the trash, or unloading the dishwasher, but to them it will be an incredibly thoughtful gesture, and once again, it will help show them just how much you’re thinking about them.
- Hold hands in public
Another of the best ways of spicing up a marriage is to go ahead and hold hands with them in public.
Holding hands in public will take you both back to the early days of your relationship when you both started dating for the first time. You’ll be reminded of how in love you felt and how attracted to your partner you were.
Even when you’re relaxing on the couch after a long day, take your partner’s hand in yours, or put your arm around them, hold them close, and this will help show them what they mean to you.
- Be more romantic
We understand that there will be times when the house is a mess, the kids are screaming, work is stressing you out, and all you want to do is throw on some baggy sweats, eat junk food, and sit in front of the TV until you go to bed. While this is perfectly okay now and then, try to find the time to be more romantic with your partner.
Try to set at least one night a week for date night, where you go out on a date as a couple. This could be a romantic candlelit dinner, a trip to the movies, a hike in the countryside, mini golf, or any other activity that brings you closer together.
Another way of being romantic and spicing up your marriage is to turn on the romance at home. Turn down the lights, light some candles, play some romantic music, and treat your partner to a delicious meal and a glass or two of wine, followed by a warm soapy bath, and a night of passion in the bedroom.
- Be more adventurous in the bedroom
We can’t provide tips on how to spice up your marriage, and not talk about the ultimate act of intimacy – sex.
Sex is a taboo subject for a lot of people, despite the fact that it’s the most natural process in the world. Without sex, we wouldn’t be here, yet people still can’t seem to talk about it. Well, that’s changing today.
When couples first get together, they can’t keep their hands off each other. This is known as the ‘honeymoon period’ and it generally involves a lot of intimacy. As the married years tick by however, a lot of couples struggle to maintain a healthy sex life, and this often affects their marriage.
A great way of spicing up a marriage is to be more intimate, and more adventurous in the bedroom. Experiment with toys, sexy outfits, roleplay, foreplay, and more besides. Try different positions, see how long you can last, tease your partner, pleasure them, and try to find new turn-ons.
No matter how busy you are, or how tired you are, as a couple, try to find the time to have more adventurous sex and you’ll be amazed by how much stronger your marriage becomes as a result.
- Share something together
As a married couple, it’s important to share, and we aren’t just talking about material things such as food.
A great way of spicing up your marriage is to share something new as a couple. This can be a new series to binge watch, a puzzle to complete together, a DIY project, or even a new hobby that you take part in once or twice per week.
Whatever it is, if you’re sharing the activity and experience together, this will help bring you closer together as a couple and show you why you’re compatible in the first place.
